Cost of hiring a Picture Set
The cost of hiring a BUC Picture Set is as follows:
- Rental: £10.00 for the first week or part thereof, and £5.00 for subsequent weeks. The duration of use being measured from despatch of the picture set from this office, to its return to this office.
- Postage: If you cannot arrange for the picture set to be collected from and
returned to the BUC office, then postal costs will be incurred. These will be about
£12.00 each way (including insurance).
- Deposit: A £20.00 deposit is required before the picture set is sent out. This
will be refunded when the picture set is returned complete and in good condition.
Example: You want to hire a kit for a display in your local library
(using their display boards), for a period of three full weeks. Your Pastor can pick up
the picture set from this office the week before you need it, but you will have to post it
back. Note that you will need to hire the picture set for four weeks to allow for delivery
and return. In this case the costs would be as follows:
- Rental
: £10.00 plus 3 x £5.00 = £25.00
- Postage
: Approximately £12.00 (one way)
- Deposit
: £20.00 (returned when kit is returned)
How to hire a BUC Picture Set
Based on the above example you would first of all phone the BUC Communication department (01923 672251) to check that a picture set is available. You would then send two cheques made out to "BUC", one for £25.00 and one for £20.00. Your Pastor picks the picture set up for you and, having made the arrangements with your library, you put the display up. (You will probably want to have a few leaflets about your local church etc. available as well.) When your time is up you pack the pictures and captions back into the case, take them to your post office (or courier depot), and post them back to us. Make sure that the contents are covered for their value of £450.00, and keep some proof of posting. As soon as we receive the picture set back (in good condition!) we will send your original deposit cheque back to you.
We hope that you will be able to use the BUC Picture Sets as an effective witnessing tool in your local area.

Church Information Cards. Available from
the Stanborough Press. This card will replaces the "Quick Look" leaflets. Designed by Becky De Oliveira and printed in Thailand the cards measure approximately 10 cm square when folded and about 25 cm by 10 cm when opened out. An interesting side-effect
of the bi-fold design is that the cards will stand up on a flat surface, a
feature that will be useful in church foyers etc. Efficient production plus a
subsidy from the BUC Communication department means that the cards can be
ordered from the Stanborough Press at just 2 pence each. The minimum number of
cards that can be ordered is 1,000 but postage and packing is free. To order
your box of cards send a cheque for £20.00, made out to "BUC" to:

A Manual for Positive Press Relations. Written by Mike Stickland and subtitled Getting Church News into Local Papers this is the definitive guide for Pastors and Communication Secretaries who wish to publicise the work of their local church. Cost from the Stanborough Press: £9.95 each.
