A Personal Invitation

A Personal Invitation

Dear friend

I'm glad that you found us. Welcome. Let me share this with you. There are about 63.82 million people living the UK and Ireland. Our church represents about 0.04% of that population. What does that mean? Well, for every ONE Seventh-day Adventist in the UK and Ireland there are about 2,550 who are not. If we take our comparisons a little further and focused just on the majority population, we stand a staggering ONE Seventh-day Adventist to about 25,500 who are not members of our Church family. I know that not everyone of those people will want to be part of our family, but our instructions are clear and simple - take the Gospel of the Kingdom to the entire world as a witness.

Impossible some may say; yet it reminds me a little of the time of Gideon. The Bible says (Judges 7:12) "The armies of Midian, Amalek, and the people of the east had settled in the valley like a swarm of locusts. Their camels were like grains of sand on the seashore - too many to count!" These armies had come in vast numbers to destroy God's people, and God decided that He needed only 300 men to stand against them. I find it hard to count 63.82 million people, but God isn't concerned with numbers. His interest then as it is now, is a finished work, and to do that He chose some very special people. He didn't want "Those who were unwilling to face danger and hardships, or whose worldly interests would draw their hearts from the work of God, (these) would add no strength to the armies of Israel. Their presence would prove only a cause of weakness." {PP 548.3} And E G White continues "The Lord can work most effectually through those who are most sensible of their own insufficiency, and who will rely upon Him as their leader and source of strength. He will make them strong by uniting their weakness to His might, and wise by connecting their ignorance with His wisdom." {PP 553.2}

What a marvellous statement! God simply takes a willing person, dedicated to His service, moulds them, empowers them, and gives them the greatest joy anyone can have - that of sharing the Love of God with people who simply needs to know that there is an alternative to the chaos and confusion that seems to be the norm in the 21st Century. Are you such a one? In the book Desire of Ages we are reminded that " ... The gospel invitation is not to be narrowed down, and presented only to a select few, who, we suppose, will do us honor if they accept it. The message is to be given to all. Wherever hearts are open to receive the truth, Christ is ready to instruct them." {DA 194} Look at this statement "In the miracle of feeding the multitude with a few loaves and fishes, the food was increased as it passed from Christ to those who received it. Thus it will be in the distribution of our literature. God's truth, as it is passed out, will multiply greatly. And as the disciples, by Christ's direction, gathered up the fragments, that nothing might be lost, so we should treasure every fragment of literature containing the truth for this time. None can estimate the influence that even a torn page containing the truths of the third angel's message may have upon the heart of some seeker after truth. --Southern Watchman, Jan. 5, 1904. {ChS 153.3}(emphasis mine). Friend as you read this, don't you wish that you were a part of God's army of Literature Evangelists? Well, you can be.

We are looking to build a team in the British Union Conference that will rise to the challenges of this century in getting our Publications into the hands of Millions of people. If your heart is responding right now, don't ignore it. We have all been called 'for such a time as this'. Talk to us. Fill in an application form and process it accordingly. To use a slogan of some years ago - "Just do it!" I look forward to hearing from you, and, God bless you as you accept His challenge by faith.

As always 'in the blessed hope'

Literature Evangelism - A Key to Reach the World

Literature Evangelism

WHY?

The publishing ministry of the Seventh-day Adventist Church is a sacred calling, whether writing, publishing, or circulating the material that have been printed.

Our publishing work was established by the direction of God and under His special supervision. It was designed to accomplish a specific purpose. Seventh-day Adventist have been chosen by God as a peculiar people, separate from the world…. The greatest wealth of truth ever entrusted to mortals, the most solemn and fearful warnings ever sent by God to man, have been committed to them to be given to the world; and in the accomplishment of this work our publishing houses are among the most effective agencies."-Testimonies for the Church, Vol.7, p.138.

WHAT?

Our publishing ministry will always be needed until probation closes.

"If there is one work more important than another, it is that of getting our publications before the people, thus leading them to search the Scripture."- Testimonies for the Church, Vol.4, p.390; (Colporteur Ministry p.7.)

"Many who will not be induced to listen to the truth presented by the living preacher will take up a tract or paper and peruse it." Review and Herald, December 19, 1878; (Colporteur Ministry p.8.)

"More than one thousand will soon be converted in one day, most of whom will trace their conviction to the reading of our publication." Colporteur Ministry, p.151.

HOW?

All Seventh-day Adventists should participate in the circulation of our literature

There are many proven methods of distributing literature such as:

  • Door to door in your community

  • Libraries

  • Contacts, friends, relatives

  • Christian Book party

  • Health seminars

  • Stands placed in shopping malls, bus and rail stations

  • Handed out on the streets

  • Doctors' surgeries
